COLORADO
Everyone in the US knows Colorado for its mountains, where you can either ski or hike; for us
Europeans, having the Alps seems enough, but let me tell you this, you will not be disappointed in
the Rockies!
In my life, I have been to Colorado three times; once for our roadtrip from Denver to Las Vegas in
May, once for hiking for Thanksgiving, and once for skiing in February. Needless to say, I loved this
state no matter the season!
You will find more details about our roadtrip here, and in this page I will briefly describe our two
other adventures. In both cases we rented a Jeep at the airport, and since it snowed both times, we
were happy about our choice! The first time we rented an HomeAway in Jamestown (the owners
were amazing, but the listing is no longer available), and the spent the first day hiking the Gold Hill. It
was a fun easy hike, and we loved it. The following day we drove to Rocky Mountain National Park,
where unfortunately, the passage from South to North was closed; anyways, we could not really hike
because it started snowing and we were not equipped, so we just drove from hotspot to hotspot> The last day, we completed another fun hike close to Jamestown.
The trip we took for skiing was actually suggested to us by some people we met in Jamestown, who
told us that people from that area go to ski in Arapahoe Basin
(ABasin for friends!), so we rented an Airbnb nearby and we consecrated the days to this activity.
Slopes are different from the Apls, but they are fun, and it was the first time I witnessed constant
snow at -17°C!
