A 5-day trip in Corsica

Corsica is the best of both worlds; a little bit Italian, but also a little bit French (perfect for me!). The dialect is extremely similar to the Sardinian one and to italian, making it super easy to undestand them for non french speaking italian turists!

Regardless of the language, this island is astonishing for both the cities and the natural sides (whether it be beach or the inland). It is definetely a must do in your life!

Coming from Italy, we left with the car in Livorno with a ferry that took us to Bastia, where we spent our first night (and the last one!). The next morning we drove to Aleria (74 km-1h16), where we set our tent (we camped for the holiday), and we proceeded to drive to Ajaccio (108 km-1h). The capital of Corsica is full of history (birthplace of Napoleon), and definetely worth seein. It is here that my camera stopped working.

The following day we drove to Bonifacio (100 km-1h50) and Porto Vecchio (30 km-3h). Be ready for Bonifacio, the set of stairs to reach the top of the hill is challenging in the hot august weather, but it is definetely worth it; the citadel is one of its kind. On the other side of the hill, you could also descend and take a swim in the super pretty rocky beach. After that, in Porto Vecchio, we directly went to the beach, where we relaxed for therest of the day.

The following morning we woke up early to go do some canyoning. The experience was fantastic and the guide super nice, but you need to be somewhat fit to do it (different levels are available). It was my first canyoning and I have to admit that both the treck to go up hill and the abseiling was phenomenal! Clearly after the intense morning we were super tired so we went back to the tent and we just rested for the rest of the day at the beach in front of it.

Finally, the last day we drove to Calvi and Saint-Florent, where we visited the citadels and enjoyed some fresh gelato, before going back to Bastia.
