An 8-day trip in New England
“Life is a cookie, but if it rains it melts” said once Bruce Nolan. Well, luckily enough we only got one day of rain on our roadtrip in New England, therefore we were able to ge the best out of the fall’s colors.
Our roadtrip started in Boston but we left this amazing city as last stop of our tour, so we directly headed to Woods Hole (121 km-1h30), where we took the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. Our initial plan was to rent bikes, but the weather did not allow us to do so, therefore we just walked and/or hopped on public buses. We decided to go from Tisbury towards Oak Bluffs, to see the famous Gingerbread houses. They are so cute!! After that, we hopped again on te bus to go to Edgarton, where we passed on the bridge where Jaws was shot! After that, it was time to get back on the ferry.
The morning after, we went to Hyannis (40 km-50 min) to get the ferry for Nantucket. Because we spent one night on the island, and because the weather was sunny and warm, we rented bikes to ride around it. The bike lanes are super developed, so it is easily the best way to get around! We rode from Nantucket to Siansonset, and on the beach we also saw 2 seals playing! It was amazing also because nobody was around. To get back we completed the loop passing through Quidnet, and the next day we were ready to take the other bike trail towards Madaket, full of beautiful villas. After that, back to Hyannis and then to Boston (114 km-1h30).
The following stop was Niagara Falls, but even though the drive was long (752 km-7 h), the amazing surroundings made the time fly. We arrived in Niagara Falls, which honestly was not the most beautiful city I had ever seen. After a good night sleep, we went to the falls, and to reach the void we walked along the river, so we saw the transformation from cam river, to rapids, to falls. We rode the Maid of the Mist and we also walked under the Horseshoe falls. At that point, my parents were able to go to the Canadian side but since I was leaving in Dallas at the moment, I had left with only my american ID and I could not exit the country. I really regret it.
On our way back to Boston, we stopped in the Berkshire where we spent the night; it is such a cozy place! Our final stop was Boston, but since I lived in this city for 3 months, you can find more about it in the specific page.
